AKEIA BLUE, MPH, MS

Public Health Consultant

Akeia Blue, MPH, MS is a public health communicator who brings several years of experience creating brands, campaigns and strategic plans for a variety of clients, including non-profit organizations, pharmaceutical companies and government offices. Her thoughtful approach to program and campaign development places high-quality client service delivery at the forefront of her work.

Akeia's expertise includes health equity focused public health education. An expert in multicultural marketing, Akeia uses learnings from the community, combined with research and best practices, to ensure that appropriate messages are delivered to communities in need, at the right place and in the right way. She also uses strategic thinking to inform program and campaign tactics, engaging with trusted community leaders, patients/caregivers and healthcare professionals in meaningful ways to meet objectives.

Akeia's mission is to remove the concept of a "difficult patient" or "noncompliant patient" from the healthcare system. She works to achieve this by educating clinicians on delivering culturally appropriate care that considers the role of the social drivers of health and implicit bias in impeding quality care and by helping patients feel confident in their ability to advocate for themselves and manage their health.

Akeia received her master's degree in public health from The George Washington University. She is a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated and lives in Prince George's County, MD with her 15-year-old Shih Tzu/Terrier mixed dog, Ally. When she's not traveling the world, Akeia can be found at home crafting and completing DIY projects around her house.

Akeia was very helpful with a project to develop resources and messaging for various audiences. She was great to work with, able to incorporate our ideas and feedback into a tangible product, and provided helpful framing and language to make sure the documents were health literate and easy to understand.
